Description: 南葛飾郡堀切村は江戸後期より花菖蒲の名所として知られ、鈴木春信や安東広重等によって多くの錦絵が残された。江戸近郊の田園の中にある野趣に富んだ菖蒲園の姿をよく伝える写真である。二人の女性と半纏を着た男性は見学者だろうか。 / Horikiri Village of Minami Katsushika-gun was famous for its irises from the late Edo Period, and Suzuki Harunobu, Ando Hiroshige and other artists depicted then in "ukiyoe" prints. This photograph captures the rustic charm of the iris garden in the countryside near Edo. The two women and the man with "hanten" jacket may be visitors.
