Abstract: MATLAB is a matrix based system for engineering calculations and a kind of language disigned solely to do matrix manipulation. This study, we apply MATLAB programing to the numerical analysis for highway bridge vibration problems under MATLAB programing of the bridge vibration such as the simulation of road roughness, the deterministic response analysis, the stochastic response analysis and the optimal design of tuning mass dampers are treated. The numerical calculation methods of the covariance equations by Runge-Kutta method and Pade approximate method are proposed. Using by MATLAB, programing environment can be rapidly improved.
