抄録: One of authors (Tanabashi. Y.) proposed an elasto/visco-plastic constitutive model for cohesive soils based on anisotropic elasto-plastic theory. Finite Element Analysis (FEM) substituted the proposed model have been carried out to estimate the deformation of clay ground and have compared with the other simple estimation methods proposed by Terzaghi (1942), Hoshino. K (1965), Yasuhara. K. et al. (1988). As the results of these comparisons, the prediction method using by FEM substituted the proposed model has been clarified sufficiently superior than any other simple estimation methods. However, FEM is not so good for practical purpose, because of its large amount of demanded data, preprocessing of finite element meshes and CPU time. Therefore this paper describes that a simplified estimation method for the deformation of clay ground has been derived based on the elasto/visco-plastic model. It has been concluded from the comparison of predicted results with observed and calculated settlement by FEM that the simplified prediction method is advantageous for long-term settlement prediction of clay ground.
