Abstract: The implication of hypointense white matter on T2- weighted MR images in infants with Sturge-Weber syndrome is a subject of recent controversy. We report a case of infantile Sturge-Weber syndrome with decreased white matter signal on T2-weighted MR images. This hypointensity may reflect accelerated myelination and/or increased deoxyhemoglobin in capillaries and dilated deep medullary veins.
