Abstract: Three-day-old metanauplius larvae of Artemia salina show positive phototactic response after dark adaptation. The accumulation of the larvae into light flux from dark region was linear to the initial period of irradiation. The maximum response was resulted from the irradiation of monochromatic light at 420 nm. The action spectrum in visible region is similar to the absorption spectra of hemoproteins. This result suggests that the photoreceptor pigment may be one of the hemoproteins.
