Abstract: 1. This report deal with the bryophyte-flora of Mts. Unzen western Kyushu Japan. The study sites are Mt. Fugen, Azamidani, Mt. Myoken, Fmarole area and the Gensei-numa moor in the mountains. 2. The bryophytes recognized by actual specimens and literature comprise 52 genera, 81 species and 4 varieties in the Musci, and 30 genera, 45 species and 2 varieties in the Hepaticae. 3. Several boreal or northern species were found in this area. Examples of them are Bartramiopsis lescurii, Dicranum viride var. hakkodense, Rhytidiadelphus subpinnatus, Diplophyllum albicans, Apometzgeria pubescens, Scapania ampliata. The noteworthy species of present flora include Sphagnum cuspidatum, S. fimbriatum, S. palustre and Jungermannia thermarum.
