Abstract: Forced convection film boiling heat transfer from a horizontal cylinder to saturated liquid cross-flowing upward is analyzed based on the two-phase boundary-layer theory. Numerical solution of the conservation equations is determined by means of the integral method of boundary-layer for water, ethanol and hexane under the atmospheric pressure. The velocity profile, separation point of the boundary-layer, thickness of the boundary-layer, distribution of the heat transfer coefficients and average Nusselt numbers are discussed and the effect of the approaching velocity on them is also examined.
