Abstract: The objective of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of vibration of plates with variable thickness and a hole defect by analytical and experimental methods. The vibration frequencies and modes obtained by the proposed discrete method are verified with the experimental results. Moreover, the effects of the thickness of plates, size of the defect on free vibration behavior of plates are also investigated.
