Description: 生田神社は、JR三ノ宮駅から北へ徒歩数分の場所にあり (現中央区) 、大同元年 (806)、神社に44戸の神戸 (かんべ) が置かれたことから、「神戸」の地名が生まれたという。中央奥に本社、背後の森は「生田森(いくたのもり)」の名残。「生田森」は古来歌枕として名高く、源平合戦の戦場ともなった。明治初期から中期の撮影。 / Ikuta Shinto Shrine is located a few minutes on foot north of JR Sannomiya Station (present-day Chuo Ward). In the year 806, 44 families were designated to serve as shrine supporters (kanbe), and this is said to be the origin of the name "Kobe" (Kobe and kanbe are rendered with the same ideographs). The main hall is in the center, the grove behind it is the remainder of the great Ikuta forest. The forest has been famous since ancient times, and it is often mentioned in songs. It also the site of a 12th-century battle between the Genji and Heike clans. Taken in the first half of the Meiji Period.
