When student nurses were assigned to the same patients for 3 years in the nursing practice of psychiatry, the patients showed improvements in human relations, and students benefited as they better understood the personality of the patients. One of the reasons for these improvements is considered to be the preparation and evaluation of process records by the students, which helped with adjustment of their attitudes to the patients. The contact of the patients hospitalized for prolonged periods with young and healthy students is also considered to have stimulated modification of their human relations. Preparation of process records by student nurses in psychiatric practice is considered to be of major educational importance not only for acquisition of nursing techniques by the students but also for utilization of this opportunity for improving the patients' conditions.
