Abstract: The structures of international vertical specializations are chains of the intermediate goods import caused by export, and to be a subject of the input-output analysis. From this idea, Hummels et al.(1999,2001) showed an index named vertical specialization share (VS or VSS) by using non-competitive import type inputoutput tables of OECD countries. That model was single-stage because it had used the country-by-country input-output tables. On the other hand, Fujita (2006,2007) showed that VS-model was able to be enhanced to multi-stage by using international input-output tables and analyzed the cyclical connected structures of the intermediate goods trade in ASEAN and east Asia by measuring multi-stage VS. The purpose of this thesis is to expand applied field of multi-stage VS with an international input-output table. The technique for measuring the grouping strength is examined for countries that closely import intermediate goods each other. In addition, the attempt of making of these information visible is shown.
