Abstract: For the purpose of water management in a dam reservoir, it is important to know water quality within the thermally stratified one. Until this we have usually used a method in numerical simulations with mathematical model to predict temperature and turbidity distributions, but in this paper a validity in physical simulations with hydraulic model may be proposed. The author, with the other investigator, has already classified japanese multi-purpose reservoirs in respect of thermal stratifications. Based upon this, it's obvious that stratified-heat type and stratifiedinflow type reservoirs have a very important engineering problem. So experiments of these two types will be made, and those results will be compared with observations of the Kayase Reservoir.
