抄録: Recently, some extremely expansive materials called as "static expansive demolition agents" have been used in the demolition works of rocks and concrete structures. With the agents, demolition can be done in safety without sound, vibration and any other pollution, since high expansive pressure is obtained gradually by only mixing the agents with water and pouring it into bore holes. In order to estimate the time for demolition works, it is necessary to investigate the mechanism of rupture of materials subjected to expansive pressure as well as characteristics of expansion of the agents. The measurement of the non-hydraulic pressure due to expansion of the agents in bore holes is so difficult that the authers made an apparatus for the simulation test in which hollow mortar cylinder was employed as a specimen and oil-hydraulic pressure is applied to it. The results of tests are as follows. 1) The rupture of specimen subjected to internal pressure occurs suddenly by a circumferential stress σθ, and the crack seems to develop straight to out side surface at a time. 2) While k0 (Ratio of outer diameter to inner one) is less than 5, the value of pu/σt (pu : Internal pressure at rupture, σt : Tensile strength of mortar) increases in proportion to that of k0. But, when k0 is over 5, increment of the value of Pu/σt become very small. Finally, at any value of k0, almost constant values ranging from 3 to 5 are obtained. 3) The circumferential strain εθ at inner surface of the specimen increases constantly up to rupture and the extensibility is two or three times larger than the value obtained from the splitting test. Also, the measured value of strain is lager than calculated one with elastic theory.
