Abstract: In the present study, the optimum design for a structure which is restricted from displacement is performed with respect to minimum volume. The method of stiffness matrix is used for stress analysis. In comparison with the SLP method, the present method is effective for the design of a cross section area of a structure with a restriction of displacement. In case the minimization of the objective function is restricted with displacement, it is possible to do an optimum design economically with the aid of another method (i. e., the SLP method or the SUMT method).
