抄録: A general survey was carried out on the nutritional requirements of Leucothrix mucor strains isolated from the red algae Porphyra. Used in the test of carbon or nitrogen source utilization for the growth of L. mucor strains was artificial seawater medium added by either ammonium nitrate or glucose respectively as shown in Tables 1 and 2. All of the strains grew well by utilizing glucose, galactose, fucose or mannitol, though a significant difference was noted in the utilization of pentoses. Lactose, raffinose, dextrin and starch did not support the growth of strains. Most strains were capable of utilizing some organic acids especially lower fatty acids. Ammonium chloride, nitrate, uric and and its intermediate products, and amino acids such as alanine, glutamate, aspartate, etc. supported the growth of test strains in the medium with glucose. For the growth of L. mucor strains trace elements were required and vitamins appeared to be no essential factors. Two test strains were found to be capable of rapidly oxidizing fatty acids such as propionate, butyrate, valerate, capronate and caprylate except isovalerate. It seems probable that L.mucor develops on the thallus by utilizing the nutrients brought from seawater of high COD and/or liberated from damaged cells of algae itself. / アサクサノリ葉体に着生する糸状細菌Leucothrix mucor 8菌株の栄養要求試験を行なった.炭素・エネルギー源としては6炭糖・有機酸および低級飽和脂肪酸を利用し,特にギ酸からカプリル酸までの酸化分解を認めた.また窒素源としてはアンモニア・尿酸・アミノ酸類を利用した.ビタミン類はこの細菌の生育因子とは認められなかった.
