抄録: The problem on filamentous microorganisms attaching to the red alga Porphyra has recently drawn considerable attention due to the loss of yield. In order to obtain the fundamental information, a general survey was carried out by using several pure strains isolated from Porphyra sp. of NAGASAKI. On the basis of morphological and physiological characteristics, the tested strains were identified as the filamentous bacterium Leucothrix mucor, which is included in Beggiatoales (Figs. 2-7 and Tables 1,2). All the tested strains were halophilic and could grow only in seawater media, not in fresh water media, though there were differences in the optimum salinity among these strains (Fig. 8). Growth occurred in the range of pH 6.0 to 9.0 and the optimum pH seems to be 7.8 to 8.0. All strains developed in the range of 5 to 25℃ and the growth at 30℃ was negligible. Considering the results mentioned above, it seems that nutrient supply for this bacterium is more important than the physical condition of seawater in culturing season of Porphyra. The thallus of Porphyra provides a substratum for the attachment of Leucothrix mucor. The nutritional requirement of this bacterium is being investigated. / アサクサノリ葉体に着生して被害の原因と見られる糸状細菌を純離し,微生物学的性状と,その発育環境要因について試験し,次の結果を得た. 1. 海藻分離菌株は,海水性糸状細菌Leucothrix mucorと形態学的特徴が一致し,陸水性Sphaerotilus 属とは異なるものである. 2. この菌は好気性で,付着性を有し,海水培地では発育するが淡水培地では成育しない.最適塩分濃度は半海水か,より低濃度海水で,菌株によって相違する. 3. 発育pH範囲はpH6.0~9.0で,最適はpH7.8~8.0である。発育最適温度は20~25℃付近で,5~10℃の低温でも発育出来る. 4. ノリ葉体は本菌の付着基盤として役立ち,ノリ漁期の海水の温度,pHなどの環境要因の変化よりも,むしろ発育に必要な栄養給源が大切ではないかと思う.
