Abstract: The atmospheric turbidity in the nighttime, which is defined by Ångström's turbidity parameter, was studied by applying the UBV astronomical photometric system of a 30cm-Cassegrain reflector. The turbidity in the daytime on the same days was also obtained by using a sunphotometer of 4 wavelengths. (1) The turidity under a very clear condition kept the same level both in the daytime and in the nighttime. (2) On the other hand, in the case that the turbidity changed significantly on two succesive daytimes, the turbidity values in the night between them showed connective levels of their values. (3) The turbidity values in the nighttime showed somewhat wide dispersion compared with the daytime values. This is probably due to the scintillation of star light and the irregular variation in sky brightness. (4) The present study indicates that the atmospheric turbidity in the nighttime can be determined by the UBV photometric system with reasonable accuracy.
