Abstract: The well-known term“economic man”in neo-classical economics is theoretically not the same as the other in the Uno school, although both of them belong to economics (the same discipline) in a broader sense. Instead, the latter is much nearer to the alternative concept“administrative man”by Herbert A. Simon than the former. This paper reviews the two models of economic man and compares them in terms of administrative man, in order to rethink and evaluate the theoretical relevance of the economic man in the Uno school. This kind of comparison or discussion has not been done so far. Partly because more and more research in business management tends to focus on simple, and often linear, causal relations, and partly less and less researchers take on such a challenging theme as building grand theory, or a topic of methodology.
