Abstract: The association between human T-cell leukemia virus-1 (HTLV-1) and atherosclerosis remains to be determined. This case–control study aimed to investigate this association as measured by carotid intima–media thickness (CIMT). HTLV-1 infection was positively associated with CIMT, independent of atherosclerotic risks.
