Abstract: In 1953 after the end of World War II, nation-wide physical examination was reopened for boys and girls from 6 years old to 18 through all primary and high schools in the Ryukyu Islands. Referring to these results, the physical growth of school boys and girls has prominently increased since 1955 as a whole. But the physique of boys and girls of the Ryukyu Islands is distinctly poorer than that of Japanese pupil. Accordingly, it is highly desirable that some counter-measures, such as improvement of the conditions of people and repletion of the school nutritional services should be put in force for the purpose of improving the physique of boys and girls of the Ryukyu Islands.
