Abstract: We experimentally investigate the control of atmospheric pressure discharge exhibiting chaotic oscillation. Atmospheric pressure discharge systems, before and during coalescence, are investigated based on photographs, time series, power spectra, and the largest Lyapunov exponents. Through these experiments, it is discovered that the merged discharge system after coalescence shows a periodic oscillation with coherence, and that dynamic behaviors transform from chaotic to orderly.
