Abstract: The acute enteritis of cholera, at a glance, confusingly resembles the chronic enteritis of sprue, celiac disease etc. No wonder, the mal-concept, the enteritis of cholera being a chronic one, is wide-spread. The author produced in guinea-pigs a severe acute enteritis, which gives a strong impression of a "chronic enteritis", by means of intraduodenal inoculation of Salmonella Typhi Murium. She tried to analyze this tremendous peracute structural change of the small-intestinal mucosa from the point of view, epithelial fusing of villi, suggesting a new idea, that the inflammation does not bring about the only one form, i.e. fibrous adhesion but there is an another form of inflammatory adhesion, i.e. epithelial adhesion.
