Abstract: The effects of kanamycin (KM), neomycin (NM) and gentamicin (GM) on the binding of Ac-(^<14>C)phe-tRNA^<Phe> to the A site and P site of the ribosome and translocation reaction of Ac-(^<14>C)phe-tRNA^<Phe> from the A site to the P site have been examined in Escherichia coli cell-free system. The conclusion was obtained that these antibiotics inhibit the binding of Ac-(^<14>C)phe-tRNA^<Phe> to the A site of Escherichia coli ribosomes.
