Abstract: Diethylcarbamazine (1-diethylcarbamyl-4-methyl-piperazine hydrochioride) was introduced by Hewitt and co-workers (1947) and applied to filariasis caused by Litomosoides carinii and Dirofilana immitis. They described that this drug was also remarkable effective on microfilaria bancrofti. M. Lubran (1950) described that it was possible to estimate the diethylcarbamazine in body fluids by an application of the general method for the determination of organic bases described by Brodie and Udenfriend (1945). The author found possible to estimate the small amount of diethylcarbamazine in body fluids through the electrospectrophotometer to modificate the Lubran's method. Experiments were done to pursue the relation between the effects and the level in body fluids in administration of various dosis. In this report the method was introduced.
