Abstract: In this study, the nonlinear vibration properties of a thin shallow shell are examined. The equation of motions describing the large deflection of the thin shallow shell using Vlasov type equations are analyzed by a Galerkin method. The resulting equations for time variable with quadratic and cubic nonlinear terms are solved by the harmonic balance method. Nonlinear free vibrations and forced vibrations of the first mode and higher modes are obtained for various geometric parameters.
