Abstract: This report clarifies the effects of the inclination angle of the workpiece upon the stress distribution and the frictional coefficient on the interface between the tool rake - face and the veneer in veneer cutting. At first, the variations of the tool - veneer contact length (l_<kn>) with the depth of cut (t_n) and the workpiece inclination - angle (I) were clarified (Figs. 3 and 4). Based on the results of l_<kn>, it was possible to measure the three components of the cutting force corresponding to various rake - face lengths of the T_2 - knife so as to determine the stress distributions (Figs. 1, 2 and 5).
