Abstract: The effect of promoter in Cu/Al2O3 catalysts system on steam-reforming of alcohol was investigated. NiO, ZnO, Fe2O3, and CeO2 were added as promoter of the catalysis. Alcohol conversion and H2 yield increased with the addition of the promoters except for NiO. Especially, Cu-CeO2/Al2O3 demonstrated the highest activity as well as Cu-ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst. XPS measurements revealed that electric densities of Cu species on the catalyst strongly depended on the selectivity for H2 formation.
