Abstract: Full scale experiments were conducted to decrease hydrogen gas in the molten metal of the AI-bronze in large working furnaces. In the case of casting by a low frequency furnace with an oil burner to shorten the melting time, a high content of hydrogen gas of about 2.5 ppm was absorbed by the melt and casting defects appeared in the ingot. Fluxes of MnOzwere effective for prevention of gas absorption. The optimum pipe for injection of nitrogen gas was selected from the viewpoint of the degassing efficiency and the necessary flow rate of nitrogen gas was reviewed.
