The following observations were drawn from many original papers on the subject of Kangaroo Care : 1. The definition of Kangaroo Care is care that involves direct parent-child skin contact. 2. Breathing stability is an indispensable element of the Kangaroo Care of normal and low birth-weight babies. 3. There are no standards with regard to enforcement time, maintenance time or how a baby should be held. 4. The purpose of Kangaroo Care has been slowly changing since its inception in Bogota, Columbia. The effect of Kangaroo Care has been suggested as being important in parent-child attachment formation, especially in Japan.
