Description: 月琴の名は、胴が満月と同じ正円形をし、音が琴に似ていることに依る。宋代以降に出現した中国の弦楽器である。日本には江戸時代に伝わり、明治時代にかけて流行した明清楽に用いられた。演奏は、ツメ(義甲)を撥として摘まみ奏でる。 / The word "gekkin" (moon harp) is derived from the body shaped in a circle resembling the full moon, and the sound resembling the koto. A Chinese string instrument dating back to the Sung dynasty, it was brought to Japan in the Edo era.
